Book Release Announcement Template and Promotion Checklist

A book release announcement needs to answer a reader's basic questions: what is the book, who is it for, when is it available and where can I learn more? Clear, accurate details make promotion easier for you and for anyone helping share the release.

Open the Excel file in your spreadsheet application or import it into Google Sheets and review the formulas after conversion. Save a separate copy for your project. Fill in the pale-yellow cells and use the Review status dropdown. Ready items and Items to review update from those choices; Not applicable removes an item from the remaining review count. Your edits stay in your file and do not sync to Author Rise.

1. Check the book facts before writing copy

Confirm the title, author name, release date, formats and public links. Distinguish a preorder from a book that is already available. Check the reader's likely store and territory where relevant. Do not rely on an earlier planning document when a live listing has changed.

2. Lead with a specific reader hook

For fiction, choose a situation, conflict or reading experience. For nonfiction, name the question or problem the book explores. Give readers enough context to understand the promise, without reproducing the entire description. Avoid unsupported rankings or statements about guaranteed results.

3. Use one clear next action

Invite readers to read a sample, visit the book page or choose a format. Keep the destination consistent with the announcement. Multiple competing requests can make a short message harder to follow. Put accurate format and availability information close to the link.

4. Adapt the message and prepare an asset brief

Write a full announcement, a short social version and an email subject line in the worksheet. Use approved cover art and any required credit. Give collaborators the correct copy, link and timing rather than expecting them to reconstruct your release details. Agree on sharing commitments directly.

5. Review the release after publication

Check scheduled messages and links again when the book becomes available. Record actual questions and responses, then correct outdated facts. Invite honest reader feedback without requiring praise or reciprocal reviews. Use your own results to choose a useful follow-up message instead of assuming a release-day post ends the work.
